YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE Part 2: THE SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING SIDE

Who should you be communicating with at different stages of the writing and publishing process? How do those people like to be reached, and how can you reach them effectively without being distracted from writing? Answering these questions will help you decide which publishing route to take, which online tools will serve you best, and when and how to implement them. M. Angie Harmon graduated from Specs Howard School of Media Arts with a vocational diploma in Digital Media Arts. She's most comfortable creating her own businesses as an entrepreneur, so self-publication is her preferred route. Marc Fountain is a technical writer and programmer with an MBA from Averett University. He's most comfortable writing as part of a team working toward a shared goal, so traditional publication is his preferred route. Yet both of them - and all authors nowadays - need a gradually evolving online author platform.

Sunday May 28 MISPRINT

MISPRINT

We misstated the date for the May program in at least one publication. The event is scheduled for 21 May, not 28 May. Deepest apologies for any confusion.

Sunday June 25 (2-4pm, High Point)

DISCUSSION CIRCLE

Participate in a round-table discussion with published and not-yet-published writers. Want to run a concept by a sympathetic audience? Have a thorny manuscript challenge you're trying to resolve? Everyone gets a turn. Too shy to speak? No worries. You can still pick up valuable tips to jump-start your creative juices. Discover practical editing, marketing, and publishing techniques. As at the original Round Table, we're all equal here (except for the moderator) (yes, Ma'am). And we're ALL supportive.

Sunday July 16 (2-4pm, High Point)
